To kick off Hispanic Heritage Month, get to know Claims Superintendent Pablo Diaz De La Rocha as he reflects on his Cuban roots.
Tell us a little about what you do at Admiral and what you enjoy most about your role.
I am a Claims Superintendent at Admiral, where I oversee complex liability claims and help guide them toward fair resolutions. I enjoy analyzing challenging situations, solving problems, and collaborating with others to achieve the best possible outcome.
How did you get interested in insurance?
My interest in insurance grew from my background in investigations and field work, including wrongful death investigations, homicide-related claims, and pro bono efforts to locate missing persons. Later, as an independent adjuster, I investigated claims and regularly attended mediations, which introduced me to the insurance industry and ultimately led me to a career in Claims.
Do you and your family have any traditions that are important to you?
Noche Buena on December 24th is one of our most cherished family traditions. It’s a time to come together, enjoy great food, and celebrate our Cuban heritage.
Soccer is another big tradition in our family. We love watching Inter Miami, cheering for Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez, and traveling together to FIFA World Cups. We’ve attended World Cups in Russia and Qatar, creating unforgettable memories along the way.
What makes you the proudest or gives you the most joy about your heritage?
The strong emphasis on family, resilience, and community. Those values have shaped who I am and continue to influence both my personal and professional life.
Are there values you learned growing up that continue to influence you today?
Hard work, respect, humility, and perseverance. My family taught me the importance of treating others well, staying grounded, and always giving my best effort.
What is something about your heritage or culture that you enjoy sharing with others?
I enjoy sharing the pride, passion, and sense of connection that are hallmarks of Hispanic culture. Whether through family traditions, food, or a shared love of soccer, I appreciate opportunities to bring people together and celebrate what makes our cultures unique.
