Perform Diligent Investigations

A key responsibility of the Claims department is to conduct thorough investigations into reported losses. We carefully analyze the coverage provided under Admiral’s policies and determine the applicability of coverage to ensure accurate and fair claims adjudication.

Develop Data-Driven Insights and Proactive Risk Mitigation

Not only does our Claims department handle individual claims, but they also monitor claims trends and patterns to identify areas of potential risk and develop proactive strategies to minimize future losses. They collaborate with other departments, such as underwriting and actuarial teams, to provide insights and data-driven recommendations for improving policy terms, enhancing risk mitigation practices, and optimizing coverage offerings in the excess and surplus lines market.

Admiral’s Claims department also focuses intently on adhering to regulatory requirements and industry best practices. What is your area of expertise within Claims?

I handle Complex Coverage and Liability Claims. My claims consist of Products Liability, Liquor Liability and Assault & Battery claims.

What is something you really geek out about?

Camping gadgets. As an avid camper, I’m always looking for the newest gadget that will make cooking, cleaning or backing my trailer easier.

What is something most people don’t know about you?

I’ve coached Girls Soccer for years. I’m not a great soccer player, but I can help those players that want to excel, reach their potential.

What would someone be surprised to learn about working in Claims?

There is always something new to learn. Handling claims in 50 states requires knowledge of each states laws, statutes and regulations. This knowledge is acquired after years of handling claims, but laws change and so will your understanding. Also, no two claims are alike. Each claim has their own set of challenges and strategies that worked on one claim, may not apply to another. Finally, the variety of insureds that Admiral insures is interesting. As an E&S carrier, we insure those companies that struggle to find coverage in the Standard Market and those companies that provide a niche product or service.

What has been the greatest accomplishment of your career?

Picking one defining moment is not easy. I can say that the finding Admiral and navigating my way up the ranks has been a great accomplishment. There are many insurance companies, but I’ve been lucky enough to have the opportunity to grow and be given opportunities that were not available at other companies.

If a friend was considering joining Admiral’s claims team, what would you want them to know?

The Claims Dept. is a big family. We all work together, across teams, and collaborate with each other. Each adjuster has their own areas of expertise and are typically willing to share their expertise with those that want to learn or simply talk about how it may help. Management is accessible and welcomes open discussions.
