  • My actuarial career started where my (aspiring) career as a doctor ended – Organic Chemistry II.
  • As a large account pricing actuary, I had many opportunities to engage with customers, none more fun than helping close a renewal with a client in Hawaii!
  • The actuarial profession can be very challenging to come up through. I have had several great mentors, and I hope I will be seen by others as a source of guidance and knowledge.

Personal Facts

 

  • As an adult, I have lived and/or worked in North Carolina, New York City, Boston, New Hampshire, and Pennsylvania, but Admiral brings me full circle back to the South Jersey area where I grew up.
  • I played baseball and football at the collegiate level, and still play competitive baseball.
  • Working with my hands is a great change of pace from my job. I’ve renovated most of my current home myself and enjoy working on cars as well.

Professional Bio

Tighe stepped into his role as Chief Actuary in 2024 after dedicating more than eight years to Admiral Insurance Group. As Chief Actuary, Tighe has a range of responsibilities including measuring the adequacy of rates and reserves, portfolio management, and ensuring compliance with corporate and industry regulations. 

Tighe started his career as an actuarial analyst shortly after graduating in 1995. After continuously advancing in his career, Tighe landed at Admiral in 2015 as Director of Pricing. In this role, he was tasked with spearheading the creation and maintenance of Admiral’s rating tools and portfolio management. 

Throughout his career, Tighe has remained in Property and Casualty insurance, specializing in large account pricing, and working in various segments, including healthcare, workers’ compensation, and professional liability. 

Tighe holds a degree in Mathematics from Davidson College. He also obtained his fellowship in the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) in 2010 and is a member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA).
